  4. Thank you Rose for all you did. I was also in Nha Trang June 66 – Aug 66 before going north to Bong Son. I had a picture of myself with Donut Dollie Ginny also from Pittsburg (I heard she passed). You were there at the same time. You don’t realize just how much a few minute talk to a GI meant back then. Thank you again and all the best.

  6. I’m so very proud of my sister, Rose Karlo Gantner!
At first she was very reluctant to share her “wartime” experiences with anyone.
But realizing how time was flying by, she has been giving speeches throughout our Pittsburgh area, about the great service the Red Cross girls provided to our men in Vietnam during a most trying time in America. Her audiences, whether other veteran groups, church or social groups, all have been so appreciative of her stories.

What has been most satisfying and gratifying is that Rose was a very important part of the Vietnam Exhibit at the Pittsburgh Heinz History Center, which will leave Pittsburgh in early September, to go to New York as part of the Smithsonian Institute’s Outreach Program. She was featured in three of the multi-room exhibit. Everyone who has seen it has come away impressed. If you have an opportunity to see this, please make an effort to do so.

God bless ALL of you girls (and most of you were just girls)! I was a 19 year old kid; never been away from home before, and those WONDERFUL DD’s made me feel a thousand times better, and much MUCH less scared! I am not the least bit ashamed to say I couldn’t have made it without you! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU, and Thank YOU!!!
