The Donut Dollies that I remember flew into Ban Don, RVN, a 20th SOS “Green Hornet” FOL in 1970 on a C-7A Caribou called “Santa Bou!” It was around Christmas time and the aircraft nose was painted in Christmas decor. Two Dollies greeted us with cookies and drinks which made our day so much brighter! Thank you very much for being there!

      Hi Bruce,
I was a Donut Dollie from July 70 to July 71. For Christmas 70, I went with another DD stationed in Can Ranh Bay to a nearby airbase and took off in a Santa Bou early in the morning. We made many stops along the Cambodian border and other places. Landing and delivering treats to the servicemen. We had lots of ice cream, fresh oranges, cookies and beer.

We were in the highlands, as that was where the Montagnards lived very primitively, and the guys came out of their rough bases to greet us. We gave the Montagnards shoes and ice cream and oranges. It was the first time they ate ice cream. The guys helped us distribute the treats too. We went to many, many small bases with short runways. I am hoping maybe one of the stops was yours. We got back very late in the day on Christmas Day. It was the best Christmas in my life..

Hi Nancy, I remember you coming to our unit in Binh Thuy late ’71 and going out with me by riverboat. Interesting times!

I’m afraid I’ve lost that riverboat memory Eileen. Interesting time for sure.
